So many banks! Which one do I choose?
There is so much that goes into opening a bank checking account than just showing up to some bank and signing a paper magically opening an account. You might ask yourself, with so many banks, how do I know which one to open an account in? There are many factors to consider when choosing a bank. First thing to consider are monthly fees. It is recommended that you get an account with no monthly fee — or one that’s avoidable, preferably through something like direct deposit. Another factor to consider is minimum balance requirements, a good bank account doesn’t have these requirements which can range from $500 to $10,000, that will keep money locked up pretty much earning no interest. Make sure there are no limitations on the number or method of transactions. Your bank should also not charge you for withdrawing money, and when choosing your bank, you should consider whether it has a large network of ATMs or if it reimburses fees imposed by other banks. Make sure that when you decide to open a checking account, you take all of this into consideration.
