Choosing and Opening a Checking Account by Maddie Bankosh
When deciding where to open a bank account, there are many factors that are important to consider. One is that there is no monthly fee. Since there are plenty of bank providers that do not charge you a monthly fee, it makes sense to try and avoid in order to save your money. Another is that the account does not require a minimum balance, since you may likely be starting our with little to no savings. Other things to consider are limitations on the number or method of transactions, free atm access, online and mobile access, and overdraft protections. One final factor that is really important to consider when opening a bank account is the interest rate that the bank provides you. Having your money in a bank is beneficial because you can make money off of your own money, but these rates vary from bank to bank. Opening the account itself varies from bank to bank. Some may be done online or in person through the bank. Contact the bank of your choice to find out the specifics.
